DS Foundation LOGO

The Deanna Sipaco Foundation offers several activities to its members. We believe and see how these work as informal therapy. Visual art workshops and dance workshops. We also organize and participate in sports events and events in which they do performances.

Parents and caretakers experience firsthand how their child, mostly already mature of age, develops their capacities and talents. That their children truly enjoy and love these activities and see growth along the way. They develop the way they express themselves, using their own ideas, their imagination and memories. Their motor skills (functions that involves specific movements of the body's muscles, its nervous system and brain to work together to perform a certain task such as painting something specific) are also improving. At the same time, both their capacity to work and interact with others are enhanced.

Together the DS Foundation with the parents/caregivers as well as the members themselves, create a safe and inspiring environment. We are here for and with each other as a community and a family that supports and helps each other in joyful and in tough times. That's how we empower each other.

Visual art workshops

For 24 years the foundation offers weekly visual art workshops guided by artist-mentors. Since 2015 Dominic Turno, an artist and art teacher from Davao, has been giving these workshops. Besides teaching, Dominic helps in setting up DS Foundation's exhibitions and other art events.

Artists like Alex Alagon, Kublai Millan, Martin Geuzendam and many others have held and continue to give workshops for the members of DS Foundation. The foundation have also received support from other local artists like Dinky Munda.

Dance workshops

The weekly dance workshops are being given by dancer and dance teacher Analyn Turno, the sister of Dominic. With her positive and motivating energy she gets many of our members to dance and get loose! Besides physical efforts there is lots of fun and laughter involved.

She helps choreograph along with Grace - a parent of a DS Foundation member - modern and neo-ethnic dance performances of our members.
